PatternPlot
Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 July 2026 · Last updated: 4 July 2026
PatternPlot is an iPad app for tracing and grading sewing patterns, published by cpmtek. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information. The short version: PatternPlot has no account, keeps your work on your device, and does not track you.
At a glance
- No account, no sign-in, no server-side storage of your patterns.
- Your traced and graded work is stored locally on your iPad.
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, no data broker sharing.
- The only information that can leave your device is what you choose to send when you use an optional AI-assisted feature — described in full below.
1. Who we are
The app and this service are provided by cpmtek ("we", "us"). For any privacy question, or to exercise a data right described below, contact amtyurin@gmail.com.
2. What the app stores, and where
PatternPlot has no user account and no server-side storage of your content. Everything you create stays on your device:
- Your current project is autosaved as a
.patternplotfile in the app's Application Support directory and restored the next time you open the app. - You can explicitly save or open a
.patternplotfile from the Export screen. - When you use the share / export sheet, the app writes a temporary PDF to the system temporary directory so it can be shared or saved to Files. This is on-device and handled by iOS.
All of the above is private to your device. Nothing is uploaded to us for storage, and we cannot see your patterns.
3. AI-assisted features (optional)
PatternPlot includes optional AI-assisted advisory features for the Pro Grading tier. These are an accelerator, not a requirement: deterministic grading and quality checks work fully on your device without them.
If you choose to use an AI-assisted feature, PatternPlot sends the content
you choose — a structured, non-personal summary of your pattern (shape labels
and overall measurements in millimetres; no name, no account) plus your typed
request — to our processing service at patternplot-api.cpmtek.com, which
forwards it to our AI provider, Anthropic (Claude), solely to return advisory
suggestions and quality-check warnings.
- This data is processed transiently to generate a response and is not stored by us and not used to train models.
- No pattern photo or image is sent. Only the structured summary and your text leave the device.
- AI suggestions are advisory only. All measurements and graded geometry are computed on your device and are never sent to, or altered by, the AI. Every AI response is re-validated on your device before it can affect anything.
- If you never use an AI-assisted feature, no data leaves your device for this purpose.
Anthropic acts as our processor for this single advisory call. See Anthropic's privacy terms for how they handle transient API requests.
4. Camera and photos
If you trace from a photograph, PatternPlot uses your camera to photograph a paper pattern, or the system photo picker to let you choose an existing photo. Images are used on your device to trace an editable, true-scale pattern. Photos are not uploaded to us and, in this version, are not sent to the AI service.
5. What we do NOT collect
- No name, email address, or account.
- No location.
- No advertising identifiers; no advertising; no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
- No third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.
6. Diagnostics
Crash and performance diagnostics remain on your device unless you explicitly opt in to sending anonymized diagnostics. If you opt in, the data is anonymized and used only to fix bugs and improve reliability. It is never used to identify or track you.
7. Purchases
Purchases and subscriptions are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We do not receive or store your payment details. Apple's handling of purchase data is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
8. Children
PatternPlot is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
9. Your rights (GDPR / CCPA and similar)
Because PatternPlot has no account and stores your content on your device, most data-subject rights are satisfied directly by you controlling the app and its files:
- Access / portability: your patterns are your local
.patternplotand exported PDF files. - Deletion: delete your files, or delete the app, to remove all on-device data. You can stop the only outbound data flow at any time by not using AI-assisted features.
- Controller / processor: for the optional advisory call, cpmtek is the data controller and Anthropic is a processor. The lawful basis is performance of the service you requested. We do not sell personal information.
To ask a question or make a request, contact amtyurin@gmail.com.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the effective date above and, for material changes, surface a notice in the app or on this page.
